St Bride Library is a wonderfully diverse resource for learners of all ages. Students, academics, designers, writers, print enthusiasts and researchers will all find something new and stimulating here. There is such a range of subjects to interest and satisfy the curiosity of our readers. The topics include graphic design, the history of the book, journalism and many more relating to the printing and book trades from Gutenberg to today.

Group visits to the Library

Two hour visit

We encourage higher education institutions as well as Lifelong Learners to come to St Bride Foundation to hear more about our archives and printing artefacts.

We offer visits tailored to reflect the special interests of each group of visitors. During a two-hour visit to the Library, your group will go on a journey through the history of printing. The lecture (which can highlight your relevant area of study, if you wish) may well cover such subjects as styles of printing type, construction of a common press, wooden vs. iron presses, ink making, or an introduction to typography. Alternatively the focus of the lecture could be on the Foundation, its history and architecture and its setting in Fleet Street.

Examples from our collections will be used to illustrate the lecture and time will be set aside for the group to view the Library reading room and our Print Workshop with its collection of presses.

  • Up to 40 people: £15.00 per person. Minimum charge £300

Taster
